Upgrade of Launchers

INTRODUCTION: KONKURS-M ATGM launchers consists of major equipment such as ground control equipment (GCE), type 9P135 / 9P135M / 9P135M1 and technological control & verification equipment (CVE), type 9V812M, which are now obsolete and are difficult to sustain due to they being analog & multi-MCB module. The production of same has long terminated by OEM and its very difficult to maintain the exisiting inventory in Army due to shortage of spare parts.

AIM: The aim of this project is to digitize the GCE and CVE of KONKURS-M ATGM and rebuild electronic MCB into compact, multi-functional curcuit.

TECHNICAL DETAILS:

(a) 9C474 Hardware Module One of the main part of GCE of KONKURS-M ATGM launcher,
9C474 hardware module includes 7 (seven) printed circuit boards performing various
functions. PCBs are interconnected by soldering, which significantly complicates the repair / replacement of these boards. The failure of any PCS leads to the malfunction of the complete module as a whole.

Advantages of digitalization:

  • PCBs in hardware module reduce to two number.

  • Increases the maintainability and reliability

  • Reduces the weight of the product

  • Reduces the range of electronic components used

  • Reduces the number of manufacturing errors

  • PCB manufactured using SMD mounting, which will reduce errors

  • Digital version consists of microprocessor which will adopt to any type of
missile used, thus eliminaring need for calibration during manufacturing or operations

(b) Launching Mechanism: The launching mechanism of old design includes a pulse generator, which cannot be easily reproduced.

It is proposed to simplify its functionality and redesign it in the form of commutating device.

Advantages of digitalization:

  • It will perform the function of switching between the launch PCB in the hardware module and the Sh6 connector (to missile)

  • It will indicating to the operator the readiness of the system to launch the missile

  • It will eliminate / will not generate a signal for ignition, currently prevailing

  • The special PCB in the hardware module will be responsible for generating the starting pulse

(c ) 9V812M-1 Control and Verification equipment: The control and verification equipment of 9V812M-1 type manufactured by the USSR includes 2 (two) printed circuit boards and a pulse generator. The complexity of working with this equipment requires highly qualified personnel. Restoration of operability and repair of this technological equipment is currently impossible for similar reasons as in the case of 9C474 hardware module.

Advantages of digitalization:

  • Developing digital kit for control and verification equipment based on microprocessor will contain all the necessary parameters for checking of KONKURS-M ATGM launcher

  • The modern CVE kit will have 1 (one) digital printing unit

  • Digital control and verification equipment will not require any calibration

  • Eliminate the need for skilled technician

  • Special software tools will ease the operator effort by providing synthisised data to enable him for immediate launch ( no manual calculation required)
